This page provides instructions on how to connect to our Internet based POS Linker demo system. This is a fully functional demo, with the ability to step through all of the features of POS LINKER.
To reach the demo system, you must use a Windows program called “Remote Desktop”. Remote Desktop is already installed in Windows XP. If you are using Windows 98 or Windows 2000, you will need to download and install the Remote Desktop software from Microsoft. CLICK HERE to be directed to Microsoft’s download page. Download the program and install it on your computer.
Once installed, to access Remote Desktop on your computer, click START - PROGRAMS (ALL PROGRAMS for XP) - ACCESSORIES - COMMUNICATIONS - REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION. When the program launches, enter the IP address provided by Blue Ridge POS, LLC personnel. This will connect you to our demo server. You will also need a User Name and Password, which will also be provided at that time. For security purposes, the password on this account is changed on a regular basis and will only work for a limited time.
Once you are logged on to our server, POS Linker will automatically launch. To log into the system from this point, type PARTS1. This will bring you to a black screen. Type “P”, which is the first letter in POS Linker. Hit Enter. From here, you can use the following instructions to move around the system.
In order to create an invoice or service ticket, you must “log on” with your “ID” to the system. This is one of the security features and also is required to track employee’s sales and services performed. For demo purposes here, type DM.
At almost any point during your demo, press the “F1” key for help. In most locations, pressing “F7” will bring up a listing of things or items at the cursor location. Pressing the “Esc” key will generally back you out of where you are or provide a “quit” function. Pay very close attention to the function key light bars on the screen. The function keys will tell you what is expected at every location.
When you are done with the demo, make sure you are back at the “Black Screen”, then hit the “X” in the upper right corner of the POS Linker screen to close the program. Then, to log off the Windows server, click START - Log OFF DEMO - and answer “Yes” to end your Remote Desktop session.
